What is Thanksgiving actually a celebration of?

Thanksgiving in the United States should be a celebration of our abundance and gratitude for all that we have, and our relationships, the beautiful land, plenty of food, water and air—especially if we can figure out ways to distribute all of it to everybody. Everybody should get something.

And during that first winter they didn’t really know how to use the land like they should, and the native Americans in the area helped them through it, and that thanksgiving was the two groups coming together and showing their mutual admiration.

The way I was taught historically was when the Indians and the white people who had settled in America supposedly had a peaceful meal together and shared the abundance. That’s how I was taught, I hope that’s true.
