RisaNewSWe have a complex week, beginning with a full moon lunar eclipse on Wednesday, Oct. 8. For three months prior and three months after, eclipses bring change to our lives. The lunar eclipse brings to a close something in our outer daily lives, its usefulness completed. We know what area of life will be affected when consulting our astrology charts. Wednesday’s eclipse, which overshadows Thursday, Friday and Saturday, is at 15 degrees Libra. Libra and Aries are especially influenced.
During this time we also have Mercury retrograde in Libra and a potent Venus/Pluto/Uranus T-square in the heavens. Venus is in Libra. It can signify our personal relationships, money and the world economy. Venus, combined with Pluto and Uranus brings forth urgent, surprising and transformative change. Let us watch the news for events. We already had the protests in Hong Kong demanding balance and stability in their future economy and government. The forces of darkness do not have this on their agenda and will do all they can to destabilize humanity’s unified wishes.
However, most of humanity, wearied of war, seeks to inaugurate a new era of harmony and cooperation. We must build the new era communities to bring this forth. The trend of human thinking and the heart is towards the cessation of conflict. This is an event of major importance and indicates an important turning point in human affairs. This trend is impulsed by a weariness of fighting wars, by recognizing the value in human accomplishment, and by a recognition that true greatness is expressed by those who see life itself, humanity, earth’s kingdoms and the entire world as one united, interrelated, cooperative and harmonized whole. They seek to educate humanity in the principles of harmony, goodwill and right relations. Those who struggle for this world perspective and unity are the true heroes. These are the New Group of World Servers (NGWS). Let us join in this endeavor together recognizing ourselves part of this world-serving group.

The Crepe Place

The history of a historic spot Eight years after buying the Crepe Place with friend Eric Gifford, co-owner Adam Bergeron took a moment on a Thursday afternoon to reflect on the midtown eatery and show venue. GT sat down with Bergeron in the Crepe’s garden patio to talk about the restaurant’s vibes, food and music. GT:...

DNA’s comedy festival is like a competition—with no prize Andrew Norelli is wandering the stage of the dimly lit Blue Lagoon. There aren’t 50 people in the audience for this Tuesday night set in March 2013, but the comedian has us lucky few audience members bending out of our chairs laughing—our heads dangerously close the Blue’s...

Lake Street Dive has blown up since last year’s Santa Cruz show As lead singer Rachel Price opens her lips for one of Lake Street Dive’s breakup or love songs, she croons tales of love, heartbreak, and disappointment. “I get your messages, I read them all aloud,” she sings in the opening lines of “Stop Your...

Gather ’Round

With busking beginnings, Spirit Family Reunion looks forward to its third album When washboard player Stephen Weinheimer answers the phone, he and his bandmates are on their way to Schubas Tavern in Chicago—a gig they are thrilled about. Weinheimer assures me it’s a perfect time to talk, despite my suspicions that he may actually be the...

Our food writer returns from the east coast with a reinstated love for bagels If this column inspires some of you to delete your gluten-free program for a day and run out to The Bagelry for a Duke (apple butter, cream cheese and cashews) then my work is done. Here’s to the bagel—everybody’s ethnic comfort food....

Co-habitual Damage

‘My Old Lady’ is a surprisingly bittersweet inheritance comedy set in Paris From the poster, you might mistake My Old Lady for some sort of twinkly, cross-cultural comedy. Stars Kevin Kline, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Maggie Smith are pictured looking arch, coy, and adorable, respectively. Despite their nationalities, the setting is obviously Paris (see prominent location...
