Artesana Winery is a premium winery based in Uruguay which concentrates on Tannat, a red wine grape historically grown in South West France. First introduced by Basque settlers, Tannat is now a prominent grape of Uruguay and plantings are increasing each year.
Artesana Winery is in the acclaimed Canelones region of Uruguay, a prime location for the Tannat grape. Their artisan wines are made from 100 percent estate-grown grapes and hand-crafted by two women winemakers.
For Marty O’Reilly and his band, The Old Soul Orchestra, there is nothing like playing live shows. “This is a very live-oriented band,” O’Reilly says. “We tend to have a lot of energy that we experience when we’re playing for a crowd, and that really makes us play our best.” The interplay between the band and the audience is evident on their 2012 self-titled live EP.
After finishing the preseason 2-0, the Santa Cruz Warriors picked up right where they left off and beat the Austin Toros twice in three days at the Kaiser Permanente Area this past weekend.
The home crowd was in a frenzy once again on opening night last Friday, cheering the Warriors on to a 121-102 victory over the visiting Austin Toros. Seth Curry led the way with a Santa Cruz record 36 points while Cam Jones netted 31.
SSC’s well-acted ‘Wonderful Life’ a bittersweet finale

What is on the horizon for the old Cemex Corp. cement plant, in Davenport? Are there any plans being developed for the site?
The Davenport cement plant ceased operations in 2009 after more than 100 years of existence. The cement plant property is still owned by Cemex Corp, which is headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico.
Last year Cemex sold more than 8,000 acres of its forested property adjacent to the cement plant to a coalition of land trusts who plan to keep that acquisition as open space, and someday hope to provide access to this magnificent piece of property to the public.
