.Body Waxing in Santa Cruz

blog_waxingIt’s a sticky—and sometimes prickly—situation. A waxer is down there, slapping wax on your nether-regions, then yanking away your unmentionable hair, while you cry like a child, scream, or maybe even curse. Waxing—it’s not much fun. But for some women, it’s a must. For me, I’m an arm waxer—every six to eight weeks, my furry arms disappear and I’m left with smooth skin. But trying to find the right waxer is an adventure. At the local salon that I frequented for four years, an esthetician cornered me and chewed me out about I story that I had written for Good Times.

(She didn’t like the story, so on my precious free time, while I was sitting in a salon, she proceeded to give me a lecture.) No thanks. I’ll never return. The next waxer I tried out spilled wax on my jeans. Not cool. So, I’ve been on the search for a new waxer. Recently, a friend told me about European Wax Center near the Capitola Mall. The clincher? They have a great introductory promo: On your first service, get a free secondary wax. I had my arms waxed and got a free bikini line wax. And to be honest, whatever wax they’re using really isn’t so bad. This was the least painful bikini wax that I’ve ever had. My service provider, Veronica, was lovely, professional and efficient. The only complaint—the receptionist tried a sales spiel with me at the end. “Our policy is to book your next appointment,” she said. “No, thanks,” I said. And then we went back and forth about this for another three times, until my adamant, “No,” finally shut her down. Even so, the lower price, the freebie extra wax, the clean facilities and the painless wax made it worth it. Where do you get waxed and what have been your waxing tales?
